Treatment for Dehydration
Give extra fluids
Give drinks with electrolytes such as ORS

How to prepare ORS at home
Ingredients: Six (6) level teaspoons of Sugar. Half (1/2) level
teaspoon of Salt. One Litre of clean drinking or boiled water
and then cooled - 5 cupfuls (each cup about 200 ml.)
Wash hands with clean water and soap
Measure a litre of boiled but cooled water in a container
Measure one leveled tea spoon of salt and water eight lev-
eled teaspoons of sugar in the water
Mix the salt and sugar into the water to make a solution
Taste the solution, it should never taste salty
Give the drink to the person with diarrhea or dehydration
When making ORS;
1. Water works as the solvent
2. Salt and sugar work as solutes

Prevention and control of cholera
1. Maintain good food hygiene
2. Drink clean boiled water
3. Take the infected person to the hospital as soon as possible
4. Use latrines to dispose faeces
5. Cover all food to avoid houseflies
6. Wash hands before eating food and after using the latrine
7. Reheat all cold foods
8. Do not dump rubbish into drainage systems
