Importance of immunization

Over a million people around the world die every year from

diseases that can be prevented by immunization.

Immunization can be oral or by injection

         In brief:

 It makes the body resistant to targeted disease

 It reduces infant mortality rate

 It makes the body produce antibodies

         .
         Antibodies

Antibodies are chemicals produced by the body (white blood

cells) to fight disease causing organisms in the body.

Note: Substances that stimulates the production of anti-

bodies are called Antigens. (Vaccines are antigens because

they stimulate the body to produce antibodies for specific dis-

         eases)
