Primary Health Care
Primary Health Care is the essential health care which involves
individuals, families and communities coming together to
solve their common health problems.

Primary health care became a core policy for World Health Or-
ganisation in 1978.
Health is a state of complete well being physically, mentally
and spiritually.
Elements of P.H.C
Control of communicable disease
Education on health problems and how to prevent and
control them.
Development of effective food supply and proper nutri-
tion.
Maternal and child healthcare, including family planning.
Adequate and safe water supply and basic sanitation.
Immunization against major infectious diseases.
Appropriate treatment of common diseases and injuries.
Provision of essential basic medication.
