How to prevent and control diseases on poultry farms
1. Vaccinate the chicken as required without fail. There are
guidelines on how to vaccinate chicken.
2. Remove sick birds from the farm.
3. Maintain good hygiene..
4. Change boots when working with different farm sections.
Or, disinfect boots and clothing when entering each sec-
tion of the poultry farm.
5. Add greens in chicken diet such as, aloe vera, spinach and
other greens to boost their immunity.
6. Feed the birds properly. Birds should have a balanced diet.
7. Keep other birds and animals away from the farm.
8. Do not allow visitors (especially chicken traders who
move from farm to farm to buy chicken) or they should be
disinfected.
9. Disinfect poultry house and allow enough period before
introduction of new chicken.
10.If a disease is suspected treat timely with antibiotics and
other required drugs.
11.Have a farm veterinary doctor visit the farm routinely
