     Enemies of Bees
          Ants e.g. wood ants, sugar ants safari ants
          Wax moths – hive beetles, wasps, hawk moths
          Honey badgers – damage the hive, kill bees and eat honey.
         Other things that bees don’t want
          Bad smell
          Too much noise
          Frequent visits from people or other animals
         How to protect bees from their enemies
          By oiling the base of the poles on which hives are.
          Putting grease on the wires to prevent the ants from climb-
            ing.
          Spraying insecticides at the base of poles to kill the pests.
          Keeping the grass around the hives short.
          Hanging the hives in trees 100cm- 150cmhigh.
