mon diseases affecting the majority of people in an area or
country.

Qualities of essential drugs

 They should be affordable to make the cost of treatment

manageable.

 They should be accessible and available whenever needed.

 They should be effective to cure, prevent and control diseas-

es.

 They should be safe when the correct dosage is used.

 They should have a satisfactory value for money.
