4. Decanting

Decanting is a method of removing large particles of objects

from water. It is done by pouring water gradually from one
container to another in order to separate the liquid from mat-

ter settled to the bottom of the liquid.

Experiment of the three pot system

In this method, the three pot system is used to purify the wa-

         ter.

         Procedures

         1. Get three containers (pots) name them 1, 2 and 3.

         2. Get dirty water and pour into the first container (pot) and

leave it to settle for a day. After one day, all the dirty parti-

cles will have settled at the bottom of the first container

            (pot)

         3. On the second day, change water in to the second pot

         4. On the third day, also change water into the third pot.

         5. When the three days are over, get the water and boil to make

            it safe for drinking.
