2. The VIP latrine
It is a pit latrine with a vent pipe fitted to the pit and a screen
at the top outlet of the pipe. to take out smell and a screen on
top to trap flies. VIP latrines are an improvement to overcome
the disadvantages of simple pit latrines, e.g. fly and mosquito
and unpleasant odour's.
Important features of a VIP latrine
Vent pipe: it lets out air.
Screen on top: traps flies
It has no lid to let in air
