Local breeds of chicken can be cross bred with exotic breeds

to improve their characteristics.

Cross breeding is the mating of different breeds of chicken to

produce off springs with shared characteristics (cross

breeds)

3. Broilers

These are birds which are kept for meat production. They

gain weight fast.

Examples include;

 Light Sussex

 the Ply mouth rock

 Cornish rock

 Jersey Giant
