                              These are mammals that feed on flesh. Examples
                                   include; lion,  leopard, dogs, cats , etc.

         Characteristics of carnivorous animals
         1. They have well developed canine teeth for tearing flesh of
            their prey.
         2. They have sharp claws for holding, killing and tearing their
            prey.
         3. They have well developed predatory qualities such as being
            swift, good sense of smell, keen eye sight good hearing,
            strength and bravery.
         4. Their feet have soft pads therefore they can creep onto prey
            without being heard
         Some  carnivores  are  scavengers  and  therefore  feed  on  flesh
         killed by other carnivores.
         Carnivores are also called preying mammals or predators.
         A predator is an animal that hunts and kills its prey.
         Carnivores are either of dog or cat family. Examples of the dog
         family include; Domestic dog, hyena, jackal,  fox, wolf, etc.
         Examples of cats include; domestic cat, lion , leopard, cheetah,
         tiger, etc.
