Characteristics of monocotyledonous plant


          Produce seeds with one cotyledon

          They undergo hypogeal germination.


          Have fibrous roots.


          Have leaves with parallel leaf venation.




         Dicotyledonous plants



         These are plants which bar seeds with the cotyledons.

         Examples:


         Legumes (e.g. beans, peas, groundnuts), bananas, mangoes,

         etc.
