         Systems of natural insemination

         1. Hand mating.


         This is the system where a bull is kept separately from cows so
         the  mating couple are selected by the farmer.


         2. Pasture mating.


         This is the keeping of bulls together with cows so that the bull

         can easily identify cows on heat.



         Artificial insemination

         It is a method where a skilled person uses a syringe to deposit


         semen from a selected bull into the vagina of a cow .



         Advantages

          It controls venereal diseases


          It controls inbreeding


          It controls injuries in small cows by big bulls


          It is cheaper than keeping a bull


          It improves on the quality of animals

          Semen from a dead bull can be used
