Perching Birds
These are birds that perch on branches of trees.
Have one toe pointing backwards and three ‘ • V
toes pointing forward.
Perching birds are grouped according to their
habits and feeding. V \
They are seed eater, fruit eaters, insect eaters
and nectar suckers.
Characteristics
1. Split feet and walking legs.
2. Back ward pointing toe suitable for holding a perch.
3. They have one toe pointing backward and three toes point-
ing forward.
1. Seed eaters
These have short strong conical beaks suitable for breaking up
seeds e.g. pigeon, doves, weaver birds, finches etc
