Uses of fossils


          Fossils help geologists to determine the age of a place or

            rock.

          Fossils help geologists to know how different plants and ani-

            mals have existed and changed.


          Fossils help to tell how land looked before.


          Fossils show us how and where the different sedimentary

            rocks were formed.


          Fossils help to tell what the animal or plant looked like, what

            it ate, where it lived etc.




         Coal


          It’s a product of plant remains


          It provides thermal electricity when burnt


          It is used to make dyes



         Petroleum


          It is a liquid fossil fuel from animal remains


          It is a common resource for power to run engines and elec-

            tric generators




         Products from petroleum.

         Petrol, Diesel, Paraffin, Lubricating oils, Grease, Tar used on

         roads, Plastics.
