Uses of fossils
Fossils help geologists to determine the age of a place or
rock.
Fossils help geologists to know how different plants and ani-
mals have existed and changed.
Fossils help to tell how land looked before.
Fossils show us how and where the different sedimentary
rocks were formed.
Fossils help to tell what the animal or plant looked like, what
it ate, where it lived etc.
Coal
It’s a product of plant remains
It provides thermal electricity when burnt
It is used to make dyes
Petroleum
It is a liquid fossil fuel from animal remains
It is a common resource for power to run engines and elec-
tric generators
Products from petroleum.
Petrol, Diesel, Paraffin, Lubricating oils, Grease, Tar used on
roads, Plastics.
