Ovulation
This is when mature ova are released from the ovary. An ovary
releases an ovum every month.
Menstruation
This is the discharge of blood by a non-pregnant woman from
the lining of the uterus. It occurs at intervals of about one lu-
nar month. It is a result of rupture of the uterus walls. Men-
struation helps to wash and clean the uterus in preparation of
receiving a foetus.
The first menstruation called menarche starts in girls between
the age of 9-15 years.
The last menstruation period typically end between 45 and 50
years. This is called menopause.
