The gills of a mush room are used to produce and store spores

         Mushrooms are unable to make food because they don’t have

         chlorophyll.

         They feed on dead decayed matter as saprophytes




         Useful fungi

                                     Yeast is used to give flavor to cheese

                                              Yeast is used when baking bread

                                                Yeast is also used in brewing beer

                                                Yeast is a good source of vitamin B1

                                        Penicillin moulds are used to make antibi-

                                     otic (medicine) called Penicillin

                                     Mushrooms are also a source of income af-

                                  ter selling.

                                 Some fungi are used in making pestcides
