When heat energy is transferred to an object, its temperature

         increase depends upon:

         1. The mass of the object

         2. The substance the object is made from

         3. The amount energy transferred to the object.

For a particular object, the more heat energy transferred to it,
         the greater its temperature increase.

         Types of temperature scales

         There are two types of temperatures scales namely;
         Centigrade or Celsius scale

         Fahrenheit scale
On the centigrade scale, the freezing point or the lower fixed

point is 0°C and the boiling point or the upper fixed point is

         100°c.

On a Fahrenheit scale, the freezing point or the lower fixed

point is 32°F and the boiling point or upper fixed point is 212°

         Thermometers

A Thermometer is an instrument which is used to measure
         temperature.

         Types of Thermometers

          Clinical thermometer

 The Six’s minimum and maximum thermometer
          The Ordinary (wall) thermometer
