Beekeeping

Apiculture is the rearing of bees for hon-

        ey and wax.

Beekeeping is the maintenance of bee colonies, com-

        monly in man-made hives.

You must understand here that there are some bee

types which don’t produce honey and are of less sig-

        nificance to farmers

         Why do people keep bees

 Bees provide honey to man. Honey is used as food

                (carbohydrates) and medicine.

 We use honey as a sweetener in food,

 For medicinal purposes. Honey is known to have antibacterial

properties that can help prevent or heal infections.

 Honey is an ingredient in beauty products. It’s good for the

                skin.

 Honey can be sold to get money for the farmer

 Bees provide man with wax. From wax, products such as can-

dles, shoe polish can be made.

         Wax

When they reach a certain age, bees naturally produce wax flakes

in glands on the underside of the abdomen.
