Beekeeping
Apiculture is the rearing of bees for hon-
ey and wax.
Beekeeping is the maintenance of bee colonies, com-
monly in man-made hives.
You must understand here that there are some bee
types which don’t produce honey and are of less sig-
nificance to farmers
Why do people keep bees
Bees provide honey to man. Honey is used as food
(carbohydrates) and medicine.
We use honey as a sweetener in food,
For medicinal purposes. Honey is known to have antibacterial
properties that can help prevent or heal infections.
Honey is an ingredient in beauty products. It’s good for the
skin.
Honey can be sold to get money for the farmer
Bees provide man with wax. From wax, products such as can-
dles, shoe polish can be made.
Wax
When they reach a certain age, bees naturally produce wax flakes
in glands on the underside of the abdomen.
