3. The Queen bee
She is usually the mother of most, if not all, of the bees in the
beehive.
The queens are developed from larvae selected by worker
bees and specially fed in order to become sexually mature.
It is fed on special food called Royal Jelly by the Nurse bees.
This royal jelly con-
sists of pollen, sugar,
water and nectar
Its main function is to
lay eggs in the hive
It uses the ovipositor
to lay eggs
It is much larger than
the others with a large
abdomen and longer legs.
