         Fertilization

This is the union or fusion of the nuclei of the male and female

gametes or cells to form a zygote or embryo.

Fertilization takes place inside the ovary. In flowering plants

the male reproductive cells are pollen grains while female are

         ovules

After pollination, fertilization takes place when the pollen tube

grows on the stigma down through the style to take the pollen

grain to the ovary to meet the ovule

This meeting of the pollen grain with the ovule will lead to fer-

         tilization
