Intestinal Obstruction




         Intestinal obstruction – this is where food or tumour blocks

         the intestine.



         Ulcers





         Ulcers – these are sores or wounds in the stomach or intestine.
         Sores in the stomach are called Peptic ulcers while those in the

         intestines are called duodenal ulcers. They are normally

         caused by parasites (bacteria e.g. helicobacter pyroli) or cer-

         tain drugs, stress and alcohol.




         Keeping a health Digestive System


          Have a balanced diet

          Drink enough (boiled) water

          Include roughage/fibre in your diet

          Have a good exercise routine but not im-

            mediately after eating

          Avoid too cold or too hot drinks or food

          Have a routine medical check-up

          Food should be cooked well before

            eating

          Including probiotic foods in your

            diet (these are foods which

            good bacteria that helps di-

            gestion) such as yoghurt.

          Maintain good hygiene. Eat

            clean food
