Food hygiene


         This is the way of keeping food clean.


         Food hygiene are the conditions and measures necessary to

         ensure the safety of food from production to consumption.

         Food can become contaminated at any point during slaughter-

         ing or harvesting, processing, storage, distribution, transporta-

         tion and preparation.



         Ways in which food is made dirty


          Handling it with dirty hands.


          Houseflies  and  other  insects  or  animals  e.g.  cockroaches,

            rats, etc., land on the food


          Putting food in dirty containers


          Leaving food uncovered and dust drops on it.





         How to prevent food contamination


          Washing hands before handling food and eating food.


          Always keep leftover food covered well.


          Keep food in clean containers.


          Serve food from clean plac-
            es


          Heat or reheat leftover

            food to kill germs.


          Keep food in the freezer


          Wash dish cloths
