Reproduction in bacteria
Bacteria reproduce by binary fission (not binary fusion). In
this process the bacterium, which is a single cell, divides into
two identical daughter cells.
Bacteria need warmth and food to reproduce. Some bacteria
need oxygen to breathe these are called aerobic bacteria. Oth-
er bacteria do not need oxygen theses are called anaerobic
bacteria Many anaerobic bacteria cause diseases
Respiration in bacteria
Respiration is required by living organisms to produce the en-
ergy they need to live.
Some bacteria need oxygen for respiration. These are called
aerobic bacteria
Other bacteria do not need oxygen. These are called anaerobic
bacteria
