The Alpine breed
The Alpine breed of goat is mainly imported to Uganda for
milk production, it has no distinct colour and may range from
pure white to shades of fawn.
Boer goat
The Boer goats distributed in Uganda are mainly imported
from South Africa. It is a Cross-breed of indigenous goats with
exotic breeds of meat and dairy goats
The Saanen goat
These goats are white or cream in colour. They are named af-
ter the Saanen valley in Switzerland.
They are the largest of the dairy goat breeds. They weigh aver-
agely 68kgs or more and the bucks weigh over 91kgs.
