2. Intensive system

         This is where a farmer keeps pigs in a closed place or room

         where they are fed


         Advantages of intensive system

          Farmer gets good carcass quality

          The animals are free secure from predator and thieves

          The pigs grow faster (gain weight) increasing farmers yield


          The animals gets enough food

          The animals do not destroy people’s crops

          There is better disease control


         Disadvantages of Intensive system

          It is labour intensive (too much work)

          It is expensive providing the animals with feeds, treatment

            and shelter

          It is hard to control airbourne diseases
