Weaning piglets

Weaning in piglets refers to the separating of the mother pig

from her litter. It is done by removing a saw from the farrow-
ing pen. Weaning is done at 8 weeks or when pigs reach 5 kg

         normal weight.

         Importance of weaning piglets

 The sow regains her body weight.

 The sow can then be available for mating so that there is
chance for another pregnancy to get more pigs.

 It reduces chances of infecting diseases to the piglets
