Weaning piglets
Weaning in piglets refers to the separating of the mother pig
from her litter. It is done by removing a saw from the farrow-
ing pen. Weaning is done at 8 weeks or when pigs reach 5 kg
normal weight.
Importance of weaning piglets
The sow regains her body weight.
The sow can then be available for mating so that there is
chance for another pregnancy to get more pigs.
It reduces chances of infecting diseases to the piglets
