Hyperaemia and cyanosis (seen as reddening) of the skin,
particularly ears and snout.
Coughing and increased respiratory rate.
Vomiting and diarrhoea (sometimes bloody)
Abortions.

Keeping wild pigs away by fencing
In case of an outbreak all pigs must be slaughtered and prem-
ises disinfected
2. Foot and Mouth disease
This is caused by a virus which spread when an infected ani-
mal shares food or water with healthy ones.
Signs and symptoms
Dullness
Flow of saliva from the mouth
Lameness due to wounds in coronet on all legs
Wounds or blisters on the tongue, gum and palate
High fever lasting two to three days.
Eating less, due to painful lesions in the mouth.
Weight loss.
Low conception rates.
Abortions.
Increased death rate, especially in newborn animals.
Reluctance to move or stand, due to sore feet or lameness.
