3. Rickets
Deficiency of Vitamin D along with calcium
and potassium in the body causes rickets.
Rickets is characterized by;
Weak and soft bones,
Bowed legs and bone deformities.
pain or tenderness in the bones of the arms,
legs, pelvis, or spine
stunted growth and short stature
bone fractures
Fish, fortified dairy products, liver, egg
yolk, cheese and sunlight are some rich sources of Vitamin
D.
Vitamin D and Calcium sources
The main source of vitamin D is sunlight. It’s advised to sit in
the sun for 15-20 minutes in midmorning hours.
There’s also some little vitamin D in foods such as;
Sardines (mukene), liver, egg yolks
Sources of calcium include;
Dairy products—milk, yoghurt, cheese
Vegetables—kale, okra, spinach
Fish—sardines (mukene)
