3. Rickets

                                      Deficiency of Vitamin D along with calcium


                                    and potassium in the body causes rickets.
                                  Rickets is characterized by;


                                    Weak and soft bones,


                                    Bowed legs and bone deformities.


                                    pain or tenderness in the bones of the arms,

                                    legs, pelvis, or spine


                                      stunted growth and short stature

                                       bone fractures


                                        Fish, fortified dairy products, liver, egg

            yolk, cheese and sunlight are some rich sources of Vitamin

            D.


         Vitamin D and Calcium sources



         The main source of  vitamin D is sunlight. It’s advised to sit in

         the sun for 15-20 minutes in midmorning hours.

         There’s also some little vitamin D in foods such as;


         Sardines (mukene), liver, egg yolks


         Sources of calcium include;


           Dairy products—milk, yoghurt,                                                              cheese

           Vegetables—kale, okra, spinach


           Fish—sardines (mukene)
