         6. Beri Beri

         Lack of  Vitamin B1 or thiamine in the body leads to the dis-

         ease called beri beri.

         The most common symptoms of this illness are;

          Altered muscle coordination - paralysis

          Nerve degeneration and cardiovascular problems.

          Loss of appetite

          General body weakness

          Eat foods containing vitamin B1

          e.g cereals like maize, rice | beans, lean meat, egg York, milk,

            kidney, bread and ground nuts
