Carbon-dioxide
This is a raw material needed for photosynthesis to take place.
This air passes through the stomata during photosynthesis
and then oxygen is given off as residue.
During the process of respiration however, oxygen is used and
carbon-dioxide is given off.
Sun light
This provides light energy for carrying out the process of pho-
tosynthesis
How leaves are adapted to photosynthesis
1. They have a broad flat shape making a large surface area to
allow the absorption of sunlight and carbon-dioxide
2. They are thin to allow carbon-dioxide to reach the cells fast-
er
3. Most stomata are on the lower side of the leaf to u JL
prevent excess loss of water.

4. The numerous network of veins sup- .
ply the cells with water, mineral salts t
and remove the bi-product of r
photosynthesis A L
5. Leaves are arranged 4
along the stem in a
regular pattern to al- /7/
low each leaf to get
sunlight energy.
