         5. Swine Dysentery

         It’s caused by a bacterium called Brachyspira hyodysenteriae.

         This organism causes a severe inflammation of the large intes-

         tine with a bloody mucous diarrhea.


         Symptoms

         Dark watery blood flowing from anus vulva, mouse and nose


         Prevention Control and Treatment

          Treat early cases with antibiotics

          Vaccinate yearly

          If dead, dispose off carcass by burying or burning

          Isolate sick animals




         6. Foot rot


         This is caused by bacteria


         Signs and Symptoms

          Swollen painful hooves making animal become lame

          Parts of the hoof contain pus and smell rotten

          Painful swollen claw.

          Cracks at the sole-hoof junction, or splitting of the hoof it-

            self.
